Gallery Information
Appleton Galleries, as well as Appleton Auction Galleries, was established by Ronald and Harry Appleton in Downtown Vancouver in the late 1960’s. The Appleton family operated the gallery in its original location on Seymour Street for over 29 years along with a second gallery, Heritage of Inuit Art, on bustling Robson Street in the mid 1970’s. In 1994 the Appletons moved to Hornby Street, and as of November 2010 Appleton Galleries has relocated to a new showroom and warehouse in Marpole at the south end of Granville Street.
The Appletons have established themselves as specialists in original Canadian First Nations and Inuit Art, providing sales and appraisals for individuals, estates, and other galleries. Carvings are obtained directly from the artists, or their agents, and from the various Inuit owned and operated cooperatives. The Inuit collection comprises over 2,000 sculptures made of stone, whalebone, and ivory. The Northwest Coast collection contains mainly ceremonial masks and other traditional items crafted of red and yellow cedar.
Appleton Galleries is open for sales, appraisals, repairs and consultations.
